Restless
by Joy, age 12

I am restless when I hear your hooves pounding,
You are restless when you hear my heart shouting.
I must escape this enclosed space,
So I can ride you away at a very fast pace.

We can run away together, you and I,
We can separate ourselves from all the lies.
We can fly all the way to the place where we belong,
And we’ll never be restless again in this quiet, afternoon song.

Your hooves and my heart beat to the same rhythm,
And we have an amazing bond in the system.
When we run we are deathless,
As in battle we are endless.

And when you carry me across the sky we are breathless,
And as we run away, we are restless.
