Ask GHC: One Horse Enough?

Ask Girls Horse Club

I have a sister very close in age to me and we both love horses very much. I have been wishing for my own horse for over 7 years. Finally I got one, but it wasn’t exactly what I had in mind. It’s been a year or two now, and it’s becoming a pain to share her with my sister. We have to take turns and sometimes ride together, I hate it. Plus we can’t take lessons anymore because our trainer got a different job. I want another horse and I’ve found three horses for sale that I’m interested in, but I’m scared to ask my parents about them. Well, because we are remodeling our house and every time I mention horses they either grunt or tell me I already have one. There aren’t any stables close by where I can lease horses and I feel like I need advice on what to do. Please help

  1. I think, that one night at dinner, whenever you feel you want to, you should tell your parents how you feel. Just take a deep breath and say, “Mom, dad, I have something to tell you. I know that you are probably busy with the house, but I really think we should get another horse. I don’t like having to ride double, plus I don’t like having to get off when I’m not done riding. I have found three horses that I could buy already.” And if they still grunt or say you already have a horse again, you should say, “I know we have a horse already, but, at least think about it?” If they say they will think about it, you might be in for a surprise. If they say no, walk into your room, and just cry your heart out, because I don’t know what else to do after that.

  2. Hehe, thank you! I need as much advice as I can get! Yesterday I showed my dad one of the horses and he read the ad, nodded, gave me my iPad back, and then went back to his newspaper! I don’t know what to do!

  3. Yeah. That cry your heart out, I was sort of joking. But do whatever you want if they say no because I really don’t have any ideas. But, at least try it and tell me how it goes! :)

  4. I share a pony called lulu and I have shared a horse called Rosie and I would suggest that you find a friend who loves horses and wants one and buy a horse together and share the cost

  5. Also let your parents know how desperateyou are and do as much as you can with the current horse to show that you are responsible

  6. Thx so much, Rosy!

  7. You’re welcome. This worked before!!!

  8. Tell me if it works I believe you can do it and get another pony!!! :-D

  9. i think that you should talk to your sister about the problem and after you get her opinion have her go with you to talk to your parents about your opinions maybe it will be easier

hope you take this into mind

  10. Thx, I definitely will!
