Concentration by HorseFeathers
by HorseFeathers, age 17

This colored pencil sketch is entitled “Concentration” because of the focus of both horse and rider needed in dressage and practically every discipline. This summer I have been trying to concentrate on my riding, how to improve it and concentrate on the horse beneath me as well; listening to my horse and what she is trying to tell me. The picture is of my English riding horse’s sire. He passed away a few summers back, so I thought I’d draw a picture in honor of him.

On the gallery submission form for our Summer of Horse Dreams Roundup, we ask contributors to answer the question “Tell us how this image represents your Summer of Horse Dreams experience in the real world?” As submissions are posted to the Gallery, we’ll share some of the best along with the story behind the image.
