Happy New Year!
Published by LeadMare • Jan 7th, 2012 • Category: LeadMare TalesEntering into a new year brings thoughts of change and opportunity — out with the old, in with the new. We establish resolutions, set goals or intentions, and think about possibilities for the future. Is that true for you? Do you follow-through on those goals during the year?
In the spirit of a new year, I’d like to invite you to share your horsey hopes and plans. Do you intend to submit your first story or poem to GHC? Do you hope to get a big publisher to look at your work? Do you want to start riding lessons for the first time, rescue a horse, enter your first riding competition or advance to the next level as a competitive rider?
What equine adventures do you see on the horizon of 2012?
Putting goals in writing and sharing them with others — especially people who are supportive and encouraging — helps keep us on track.
You can comment below with your thoughts. Or, if you prefer to give it more thought and submit something bigger, please use the Story Submission Form. We look forward to hearing what you have to say!

P.S. I hope the juxtaposition of snow-covered horses and the horse cooling off on a warm beach brings a smile to your lovely face. Like the weather, things are always changing…
I hope to grow in the equine ministry by working with kids and horses as well as using equine to tell them about Jesus Christ. I love what I do at college because God and horses are in on place and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I also hope to train my new walker mare a bit to she isnt so flighty.
Have a blessed new year everyone!

I am really looking forward to progressing in my riding and will be going beach riding for the first time ever! I expect lots of nerves but a whole load of excitement out of 2012! Also, as the Olympics are coming to London I am going to appreciate the buzz of everyhting and hopefully will see the riding in Greenwich Park. I am also going to pluck up the courage ( i know i shouldn’t be afraid) to submit my first piece to GHC. Am undecided whether to submit some of my pics or my writing
But here’s to a great 2012 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
beautiful picture by the way LeadMare, really made me smile :)
I just got my second horse recently and I just rode him for the first time yesterday! (He is green broke) I really want to progress with him in his training -and my own- and get him well trained/finished. I will also be showing for the first time this year with him! I’m super excited and I really want to show as much as I can. I also want to show my first horse-a yearling- in showmanship. I just want to learn as much as I can about training and horses.
I plan on progressing in my riding by riding more advanced horses and (hopefully) entering my first horse show. I also want to enter one of my horse pictures into a amature photgraphy contest. And spend more timd on my writing. Happy new year everyone!!!!
Thanks everyone for sharing your plans for 2012 — I’m excited for you and happy to see you’re doing what you love and realizing your dreams!
I’m also excited about what the year holds for me. I’ve been looking for a volunteer opportunity that allows me to stay connected to horses and horse people while using my professional skills to help support a good cause, and it looks like the perfect opportunity is on the horizon — a horse rescue program that takes untrained or under-trained horses and pairs them with a youth partner for training. In the end, the horses will have value as a “working” horse, saving them from a less fortunate fate like neglect or slaughter, and the human partners will gain valuable skills while building a special bond with their rescue horse. I’m sure you’ll hear more about this as we start to move forward!
I’m working towards my first away-show with my lease, Jesse, and a few more in the summer.
I’m also working on my horse photography and videography, and am going to try and get a new camera this year to help me improve. I can’t wait to see what happens this year!
My main goal is to get more riding time with my insane schedule. I could go for a few stress-relieving trail rides more often, to get away from school and stuff. I didn’t get out to the barn much the last half of last year, which I feel bad for. I’m setting my goals pretty low this year. I just want to enjoy my saddle time and smile :)
I am going to perfect my flying lead changes! I’m getting so fed up with sucking at them! xD
I’m planning on improving on my painting skills this year, and hope to find myself with some more proffessional-looking horse art by 2013! I’m also hoping to post some horsey crafts here and start a craft round-up. There haven’t been many craft projects posted in a long time!
For 2012 I hope to ride more and work on my horse sketches. I also plan to attend a trail camp with a couple friends for the first time. :)
I’m looking to compete in the HunterJumper A circuit this year with my Holsteiner gelding, Elite. I’ve also started to do some Cross Country; something I’d like to compete in eventually. :)
I am looking forward to going back to riding lessons with my new crop from Xmas
Happy new year!
I am looking foward to Horse Camp in July, and I also look foward to helping people with their horses, and train them.
I hope this year GHC will post my first poem! and that my model horse business continues to grow! =D
