I Belong ~ A Poem

Published by • Jun 21st, 2009 • Category: by Madelaina, Poetry

by Madelaina, age 13

Mane and tail like flaxen folding,
In rapid cascades a-frothing
Wind in wispy strokes it’s painting.

But still,
Is it worth your noticing?

Two eyes liquid and profound,
Starry and emotion-bound,
Alike navy rainbows wound.

But still
Is it enough to astound?

From your love I yearn a share,
And the failure that I bear
My perfection don’t compare,
Because it’s only so you’ll care.

Perhaps my efforts burning strong,
Are just actions that are wrong,
As day and night, in vain, I long…

…for you to say that I belong.

Author’s Note: I often see horses bring flight to show jumpers, even young girls in lessons, and every second they try. Horses become more perfect for us than they already are. They go beyond unimaginable barriers to please their riders and owners so that they belong as those we appreciate. These priceless efforts to strive for perfection should never be ignored as much as I have experienced.
