Never Fear

From “Guardian Angel”
Lyrics by Templeton Thompson, Sam Gay, Porter Howell
When I first heard Templeton Thompson sing Guardian Angel, it brought to mind my first solo trail ride. Boy was I nervous. I told myself I’d ride halfway, then get off and walk. Of course once I got to the halfway mark I was a lot less afraid. HA! Tricked my silly brain. And Annie was a peach. Even though I know she felt my fear, she was a good mare and took care of me (or put up with me). We’ve since gone on two longer trail rides with friends, and last week rode out on our own again. Each time I’m stronger and more confident.
What do YOU do to look fear in the face?
You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do.
–Eleanor Roosevelt
Sometimes jumping a horse can be scary, especially if you’re moving up a level, but you have to remind yourslf of this….
“Half the failures of this world arise from pulling
in one’s horse as he is leaping.”
– Augustus Hare
Jumping cross country scares me, but i now have a pony that can do it and he will jump anything you point hime at.
