My girl talks about her dreams,
of glory and rosettes,
of satin gleaming and untouched
that she could call ours.

She recites these ponderings
now,
as they dawn with the sunrise.
But I only care for her voice –
one which glows
and is as honeyed as the morning
sun is gold.
And I flick at the lonesome fly,
pivoting my fuzzy ears
and staring back in the way that makes her
smile.

I have no dreams,
my ambitions faint in my heart.
My girl dreams daily,
her will fueled with passion.
And we both strive for the future.

But we both agree, I know;
as the morning air breathes amidst the wind
and we’re here together,
it’s all about now.

  1. That was a beautiful poem full of emotion and love for horses and humans!

  2. It’s true, you can’t always think about the future, just focus on today. :) That poem has a great message.

  6. Brilliant! I love it! it is so nice and sweet. Great job! Like HorseFeathers said CHAMPION poem!!! :-)

Wow I haven’t commented on here in awhile. I’ve been busy with my novel. *sigh* don’t ask me how its going. So stressful! :-)

  7. Jonannah, are you doing NaNoWriMo?

  8. yes Horsewhispers I am! How about you? I’m pretty far in my novel so far. A prologue and a LONG chapter. Today I have to write chapter two. With all my GHC writing and my novel it does get pretty stressful. And I’ve also been writing some stuff for a homeschool magazine called Loungeteer. So tons of writing . . . But I love it!

  9. To get so many comments from such inspirational writers is a dream come true for me. I certainly didn’t think it good enough to humble anyone, so HorseFeathers, your comment just sent me over the moon :)

I’ve been pretty busy this week, and would be for the next too, since it’s going to be the end of year exams and I need to study hard! I apologise for not being able to reply to all the wonderful submissions and say how wonderful they are. But all poems, blogs and stories are undoubtedly brilliant. I’ll come on as often as time allows, but it’ll be at least another week before I can swing back into writing and computer again. Great job horse girls, keep up the fabulous writing!
