The First Horse Show

First Horse ShowThe first show with your new horse is always the most hectic. I know because I have ridden four new horses in separate events for the first time in multiple shows.

One of them I met five minutes before I got on and rode her! That was fun because neither of us knew each other and the mare was a little green. Her owners were telling me, “She’s never backed up before! She’s never carried a lance! I can’t believe you just did that!” right after we took third place in the obstacle course. I didn’t know, and I was pretty determined to show. The mare had a great mind so off we went.

So, unless you fall off (if you do get back on and keep riding, people will respect you for that and it will earn you lots of “macho” points) go, have fun, laugh at your mistakes. Then for the next horse show, you will know what you need to practice for.

  2. Okay! I’ll take this advice! I have already gone to two shows with the same horse (as everyone knows, Love) and I have won second place ribbons from both! Still working towards that blue! :D And hopefully I will get it someday!

  4. @WhinnyLove: Second place is never a bad spot to be placed in. That’s about 10000% better than in last place. *thumbs up*
