Happy Halloween from Ghouls Horse Club
Happy Halloween from a Kelpie by Madelaina, age 14

Dear Horse Ghouls,

On behalf of the herd, I’d like to welcome the annual visitors who transform our virtual barn into Ghouls Horse Club.

To help you feel welcome, GHCers have conjured up some spooky stories, poems and artwork (like the photo illustration shown here) to keep you entertained throughout the week leading up to Halloween. Look for creepy creations to be published in the FICTION and POETRY channels, and in the ART GHOULLERY.

We only ask that while you’re here, you treat our horses gently. They’re naturally prone to spookiness, and don’t need any help from you…

  1. Brilliant photo illustration Madelaina! Anything you want to share about your inspiration and/or process for creating it?

  2. haha.. that is awesome. I got a poem submitted but I wish I could have done more. Reading all these amazing creations will be ghoultacular! =) muuuhahahahaha

  3. This is going to be so much fun! It’s like a halloween party at the barn!

  4. Amazing!

  5. (: Gets me right into the spirit of Halloween.

  6. Happy Halloween everyone! I can’t wait to see and read all of the submissions. It’ll be lots of fun reading them all at night ;)

With the photo illustration, I wanted to try to create something different and somewhat scary and that got me thinking about a kelpie with only its head showing (after all, with mystery comes fright). After finding a suitable background and adjusting its colours, all that was left was to add a black horse, paint in the evil eyes and add some moonlight.

  7. What a beautiful photo, Madelaina :) Great job!
And a great banner, I’m really feeling the Halloween spirit!

  8. I’m loving the GhoulsHorseClub- everyones spirit ( ha) is great and the pics, poems and stories make my day
    =D Keep it up GHOULS
P.s who’s going trick or treating, me and my friends might go by horse back- sounds fun !=)!

  9. This really gets you into the Halloween spirit-the best part is, it still involves horses.
