Wild Horses, Our Hearts

by Madelaina, age 14

Blossoms that bloom through not only spring
Are these wild horses, alive.
Chasing at gloom with no fear or such thing
Though fearless they may not survive.

Their home in America is older than ours,
in those years they tamed the air;
adopted wind’s spirit, over field and flowers —
A land that is rightfully theirs.

Yet justified is it, their removing?
Fair, you think, to re-home?
All you knew taken away, how would be your living
When to wherever, you can no longer roam?

They cleanse souls which might otherwise die,
Re-birthing each hoofbeat all our lost joy.
Their beauty no one can ever deny,
More so, it’s what we should always enjoy.

What wild horses possess exceeds words’ parts;
Such wonders deserve a choice.
And although they already have our whole hearts,
Let us give them our voice.
